“Swamplandia” by Karen Russell is suprising book from cover to cover. I was intrigued by the setting, a faltering crocodile theme park and show. It was dying even when everyone was convinced that it would go on forever, and in a nut shell that is the crux of the book from my perspective. The never ending drumroll to the tomb; but with insight, humor, and the realization that from between the first cry and the last there are some things worth doing atrociously scary and stupid acts of bravery for – family.
P.S. I adore from tip to toe the jacket art, by Mr. Luther Daniels Bradley (1853 – 1917).
